NOTE THE NEW TIMES for 2013

Are you new to the club and want to learn to sail? Do you want to continue developing your sailing skills and confidence? Have you been at the club for a few years and haven’t quite gotten around to taking that first step towards learning how to sail? Do you own a boat but don’t take it out because you’re worried that you might not remember how to sail? Have you ever wanted to try racing on Sundays but feel intimidated by the other racers that look like they know what’s going on, or do you simply not know where/when/how to start? Or do you simply need to brush off the winter cobwebs with the help of an experienced sailor?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, act now and take advantage of the free Learn to Sail clinics! (members only)

Boat Basics

As a member, you are entitled to use the club boats. Come and learn where all the parts are kept, how to rig up the different boats, and the basics to get you moving on the water. No experience necessary! This is a land-based lesson, so just bring your eager selves! Adults and children welcome. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult member.

Sailing Basics

The backbone of the Learn to Sail program, Sailing Basics is the next step in your sailing skills development. Boat Basics covered knots and rigging, Sailing Basics will cover the Basics of Sailing - how to harness the wind to make a boat move (in the direction you want to go): how to sail upwind, downwind, how to tack & gybe, and maybe even some instruction in capsizing... Members of all ages welcome, no experience necessary (children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult member). Sailing Basics includes on-water instruction (weather permitting), so be dressed for sailing - lifejackets required!
